Join us for a 2-hour hackathon to share your expertise and invent solutions for fighting food insecurity amongst community college students and their families in Rural america!
According to dictionary.com, food insecurity is the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. In the United States alone 48% of Community College students are food insecure1. Research shows that food insecurity affects nearly all aspects of life and not just the obvious effect of physical health. Often times community college students who are food insecure are making the decision between enrolling in classes, buying books and feeding themselves and their families.
We are recruiting experts from industry, academia, government and non-government organizations to share ideas and advice as we kick off a multi-year effort along side Hope Center for College, Community & Justice, The League for Innovation in the Community College and the Walmart Foundation to understand and solve this challenge faced by so many students.
